A VERY successful exhibition 2014!
Dear members of the NPG, I would just like to say how fantastically well the 2014 Norfolk Photography Group exhibition went. Over the course of the week, there was a steady stream of visitors to see our work. YOU made the exhibition – it is YOUR work which is on display. May I say a BIG thank you to all of you who took part by submitting your images, as well as to those of you who gave your time in one form or another to help the show run so smoothly (putting up; taking down; stewarding; standing on the roof (yes, there was one!), advertising; publicity etc etc.) Without your efforts, we would not have been able to have an exhibition this year.
Timing was great – coinciding with the Mundesley festival. Even the weather was kind (except for Hurricane Bertha on Sunday – and even then we had 70 people visit!)
The comments received by visitors were extremely complimentary. Many were regular annual visitors but there were plenty of ‘first time’ visitors too – ALL went away very impressed with the display and many backed up their verbal appreciation in writing in the comments book. Although we would have been happy to ‘break even’ we actually made a profit on the event – we will ensure this money goes towards the progress and betterment of the group.
There were quite a few promises of new members to the group and we always need new blood – so that is also a bonus to look forward to.
People were almost universally happy with the tea / coffee / biscuit arrangement, and, speaking personally, if we had been catering with sandwiches, cakes etc, I think it would have put off some members from helping out. I would propose a similar arrangement for next year.
Finally, it would be remiss of me not to give a special mention to Jeanette Duncan for all her sterling work and dedication to ensure that the exhibition ran and ran so well. Thank you Jeanette, on behalf of your fellow NPG members.
It only remains for me to say that I hope you continue to have a good summer, (as soon as the hurricane has completely disappeared) and I look forward to seeing you all next season.
