For those wishing to see how their images compare to other photographers throughout the country this is a scheme which allows you to work towards a BPE distinction based on acceptances in a number of national exhibitions.
The list of exhibitions included in the scheme is on the BPE website together with an explanation of how it all works.
There are currently 21 annual exhibitions included on the “list of exhibitions” webpage with dates and links to the individual exhibition websites. Most of the exhibitions can be entered online and most have digital image classes so entry is possible with minimum effort, simply upload your jpegs and pay by card – no packing up prints, burning CDs or trips to the Post Office. Each exhibition has its own rules and entry charges which are listed on its individual website.
Each entrant will receive a catalogue showing the awarded images and it is a great way to see a selection of top quality images. For every image accepted in one of these exhibitions 1 point is awarded and once you have 25 points you can apply without charge to become BPE1* and a certificate and ribbon confirming this success is sent to you. For those who continue the next 25 points achieve BPE2* and once you have 100 acceptances in total BPE3* and so on to BPE5*, ABPE and FBPE with the criteria becoming successively more of a challenge.
These distinctions are held for life, are not dependent on any annual subscription and can be achieved over any period of time.
